2020 was a difficult time for all of us, but our challenges began in 2019 when we decided to leave California and head to Idaho. Leaving everything you know is not for the faint of heart. There are challenges you do not even think of, the first one being that your new state does not want you there. I have heard more California bashing in the last two years then I have in a life time. Don’t bring your politics, your money, or your attitude. According to a few, all of Idaho’s problems stem from people that have moved here from California. It is a messed up way of thinking but one that would prepare us for what was to come. The changing of the guards so to speak, the black lives matter movement, white privilege, systemic racism, and COVID.
After the scare of COVID, and Dave being diagnosed with aldosteronism ( arises when the adrenal glands overproduce the hormone aldosterone. That causes the body to retain sodium and lose potassium, spurring a spike in blood pressure). It really hit home how short life is and we began to change our perspective.
We were just finishing a flip and was in-between projects so we decided to plan a road trip. We both had places we wanted to mark off our bucket list so the plans begin. We worked on it during the evening plotting out what each of us really wanted to see.
We decided we would dedicate a month to the trip. Some days would be nothing but traveling while others would be relaxing in a chosen location. It is a lot of planning but in the end it would be one of the best vacations I have ever taken.
